Its one thing to learn Mexican Spanish for the point of taking a test, but it’s something else to learn to essentially use the language in conversation and even to start thinking in the language. Of course, time helps, but so do the methods you use to learn. My MP3 player is crammed with Spanish music. My internet index page and reports page are in Spanish. I opt to read Spanish mags and books. I started reading small paragraphs from a local Hispanic newspaper. Then I moved to Spanish love books, which are extremely simple to comprehend, and stories. I watch flicks, documentaries and cartoons in Spanish. And the single time I use my dictionary is when I am studying. Without a dictionary, you’ve got to work out the meaning of unknown vocabulary by trying known vocabulary.
